Brand imposter · Kids / GamingJuly 2026

If you haven't been around a young person under 13 in the last few years, you may have missed that Roblox is now where tens of millions of kids spend their digital play time…and their allowance, in the form of Robux. This is the first time a platform for kids has risen so high in the ranks of frequently hijacked brands and this trend appears to be accelerating (see the Emerging Trends). These scams are engineered specifically for children, and the submissions we receive often come from parents after the account is already gone.

How Roblox is being impersonated

Popular impersonation lures to pay attention to:

Free-Robux generators

Websites and videos promising free Robux that harvest logins or install malware. AI-generated YouTube videos now provide convincing fake "proof" that the generators work.

Phishing through chat and Discord

Fake login pages sent from a compromised friend's account ("vote for my game"), often on typosquatted domains like r0blox.com that look right to a child.

Trading bait-and-switch

Scams aimed at 12–16-year-olds in the limited-item economy: offers modified at the last second, fake "trusted middlemen," and value manipulation.

The stakes are rising publicly too. LA County sued Roblox in February 2026 over child-safety failures, and Georgia's Attorney General opened an investigation the same month.

Second channel checks

When you want to be sure

    Make the parent the second channel.

    Set a family rule: passwords, purchases, and trades get a parent's OK first. A scam that has to survive a second pair of adult eyes is far less likely to succeed.

    Lock the account.

    Enable 2-Step Verification and Roblox's parental controls with a Parent PIN and spending limits.

  3. 3

    Teach one absolute: free Robux does not exist.

    Gift cards get redeemed only at roblox.com/redeem, and the only real login page is roblox.com.
